International Women’s Day is approaching, a holiday of spring which is celebrated in Germany and other countries of the world. We have prepared for you a selection of greetings – wishes, poems and quotes with translation – so you can surprise and please your loved ones and colleagues.
March 8 is a holiday with a century of history. In 1910, at the Second International Socialist Women’s Conference, Clara Zetkin proposed the establishment of an international women’s day. “Celebration” 100 years ago was very different from what we are used to.
Instead of receiving handfuls of flowers from men and giving themselves a day off, women fought for equality and their rights: they took to the streets, held rallies and in every way drew public attention to their problems.
